Kaya Henderson serves as Executive Vice President and Executive Director of the Center for Rising Generations at the Aspen Institute. Kaya has devoted her career, as a teacher, a leader, and an entrepreneur, to expanding opportunities for young people.

Julie Jackson is the president of Uncommon Schools, a network of 55 public charter schools serving 20,000 students across six regions located in Newark, Camden, New York City, Rochester, Troy, and Boston. Uncommon Schools operates outstanding urban public schools that close the achievement gap and prepare students from low-income communities to graduate from college.

Committed to a life of service, Steven Ward was called to teach even before TFA. Inspired to be a role model and give back to his community, he joined the corps to help bring more black male leaders into the public schools that need them.

Hanseul Kang became Washington, D.C.’s State Superintendent of Education in March 2015. She previously served as Chief of Staff for the Tennessee Department of Education. A seasoned leader and former high school teacher, she reorganized and restructured the department to reflect strategic priorities and created a more streamlined budget process that allowed for improved personnel decision-making and better use of resources. 

Before Nick Melvoin was elected School Board Member in the second largest school district in the country, he was a Teach For America corps member advocating for communities in Los Angeles. He also ran for Congress in 2023. 

Chase serves as a school leader in Denver. Having gained experience in public and charter schools, Chase is prepared to implement a comprehensive, long-term vision to accommodate his school community’s needs.

As Senior Strategy and Portfolio Director for The Fund for Public Schools at the New York City Department of Education, Tory says that her time in the classroom helps give her credibility and authority.

After several years of pursuing her Ph.D. in education policy and leadership, Alyssa is now back in a K-12 environment. She goes to work every day with a drive to make sure all students know their voices are valuable.

Sara joined the Twin Cities corps hoping to prepare for a career in education policy or the nonprofit sector. As soon as she started teaching, however, Sara discovered the classroom was exactly where she wanted to be.

After Yesenia Castro graduated from Stanford and joined TFA, her experience teaching with the corps in New York would transform her trajectory and propel her into the career she holds now as principal at KIPP Raíces Academy in Los Angeles.
