Q & A

What made you decide to become a TFA corps member?

A friend who worked as a campus campaign coordinator knew about my growing interest in educational equity and invited me to on-campus events. A year later, I worked in the same position at Princeton and was motivated by the TFA alumni, current and incoming corps members I met, and their stories of impacting change.

How was the corps a catalyst for your personal transformation?

The corps was one of the most transformative periods of my life. I was pushed out of my comfort zone and encouraged to actively participate in my development as an educator. I learned how to build strong relationships with co-workers and the broader community. I have learned how to plan, execute, reflect upon complex material effectively, and set strong goals for myself and meet them.

What would you consider your biggest success as a teacher?

An incredibly important part of my job is helping students develop social-emotional skills. My biggest success as a teacher is embedding social-emotional learning into the school day that helps my kindergarten students grow into confident individuals.
