What initially compelled you to join Teach For America?
I knew how important my education was for my own life and fulfilling the dreams I had for myself and the reality that not all children had that same access, which is very appalling and I felt moved to be part of a solution.
How did you grow as a leader during the corps?
My biggest takeaway from the corps experience was an understanding that I have the agency to impact change. While I may just be moving the needle, it is still moving that needle toward ensuring that all children have access and opportunity.
How has your Teach for America experience influenced or affected your career overall?
If it were not for Teach for America, I would not have found my passion and purpose, which is working on behalf of children. Prior to the corps, I was planning to go into medicine, and once I was in the classroom, I realized this was actually my calling.
