Tahina Perez

Tahina Perez has been a leader on the Teach For America New Jersey (TFA NJ) team for over eight years and has worked in the education sector for the past 17 years. She started as a Teach For America corps member in 2003, and since then has dedicated her career to creating more equitable systems for all children across New Jersey. After teaching for seven years at Peshine Avenue School and Bronx Lighthouse Charter School, she became academic dean at Achievement First charter school in Brooklyn.

She joined TFA NJ as director of alumni affairs, where she was responsible for reshaping the way the region engages with its alumni and how they provide ongoing support. Her most recent role was senior managing director of program continuum, where Tahina oversaw all aspects of programming. This included incoming corps member strategy, hiring, school partnerships, teacher training, and alumni engagement. Her leadership at TFA NJ has been transformative and impactful for children across the state.

Tahina received her Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Emory University and her Masters of public administration from the Metropolitan College of New York.
