Sabrina Hernandez
D.C. & Virginia '18
Sabrina was a 2017 participant in the Teach For America Accelerate Fellowship before starting her senior year at American University. At American, Sabrina served as a resident assistant, on Greek life leadership, and as a program coordinator for incoming multicultural freshman. She graduated with a B.A. in political science and now serves as an elementary Spanish teacher in the D.C. Region.
“The Accelerate Fellowship was an incredible opportunity to travel the country and gain an understanding of the educational landscape of different regions while making incredible new friends and connections. As a fellow, I was able to learn from TFA alumni who have shown a lifelong commitment to educational equity by opening schools, running nonprofits for youth, or working within their local school systems. My eyes were opened to not only the immense commitment and hard work it takes to tackle the problems of inequity we still have in schools across the country, but also the innovative solutions and life-changing opportunities we can provide all students if we all work together across sectors, states, and lines of difference.”
