Khadijah Abdullah

Khadijah Abdullah grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from Tuskegee University in Psychology and Biology. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law, and briefly practiced with Wal-Mart Corporate on their Real Estate Legal team. In 2006, Khadijah joined Teach For America as a teacher in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina and taught high school science. During her time in the classroom, she was named Teacher of the Year and aided her school in growing their science exit examination passing score by nearly 50%. She joined the TFA Metro Atlanta team in 2019 as they ushered in their 20th anniversary of service across the community. Khadijah’s previous work includes leading the TFA Alabama region as both their executive director and their head of program for nearly 8 years. She was recently honored as Top 40 under 40 for the decade in Birmingham, Alabama, her hometown, was named “Woman to Watch” in 2015 by Birmingham Business Journal and proudly serves on a number of community boards including: Atlanta Partners for Education, New Schools for Alabama, The Penny Foundation, and the Higher Academics Summer School. Over the last nearly 10 years, Khadijah has operated as a tireless advocate for students and is relentless in her pursuit of unleashing the full potential of our students, teachers and community partners. Her personal mantra: “One Day for our children, should have been yesterday.” She is humbled to now be able to lead TFA Metro Atlanta into its 20th year and further our commitment to achieving the day when all children across Atlanta have access to an excellent and equitable education.
