Q & A

What led you to apply to Teach For America?

I became interested in TFA to do my small part to help combat our country’s disturbing educational inequity gap. There are surely a lot of inequities in the world, but if we can improve the quality of education for all—regardless of race, religion, or economic status—our world will be better off in many ways.

How was the corps a catalyst for your personal transformation?

While I knew my goal was to impact my students’ lives, what no one prepared me for was how my beautiful students would change my life. I’ve become more sensitive to world issues including the inequity gap, special education, and LGBTQ issues. I will continue to support and advocate for my students and their families throughout my career.

How has TFA prepared you for your current career?

My work ethic and time management skills helped me succeed in law school. Also, the communication, organizational, analytical, writing, and leadership skills I’ve developed over the past seven years—both at Yale and TFA—serve me in the legal profession.
