Dave Howland

Executive Director, Teach For America Metro Atlanta

Metro Atlanta '04

A man with a beard. He is wearing a blue button up shirt.

Dave Howland has spent the past fifteen years with KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools as a middle school teacher at KIPP WAYS Academy, founding high school principal of KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, and as a member of the regional leadership team where he was responsible for managing development, communications, and political advocacy for their 11 schools and 5,100 students.

Dave has worked in education in Metro Atlanta for almost two decades, having started his career in education as a 2004 Teach for America Corps member in Atlanta where he taught at Booker T. Washington High School. During his time as an educator, Dave has been recognized as a Star Teacher, the 2015 Principal Award winner for the Atlanta Families Excellence in Education, and was selected as an Education Policy Fellow by the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education.  Dave is also a 2014 Alumni of LEAD Atlanta.  Dave earned a B.A. in English from the University of Rochester and an M.A. in Education Leadership from National Louis University.

Despite growing up in New England and being an ardent fan of a number of their sports teams, Dave now considers himself a proud Atlantan and obsessively roots for Atlanta United.  He lives with his wife and three children in Grant Park.
