Avione Brown Pichon

Avione Brown Pichon is a mom, attorney, and education leader with deep roots in New Orleans. She serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB).  There she is responsible for the implementation of the Superintendent’s strategic priorities, administrative duties, and district-wide initiatives.  Ms. Pichon joined the OPSB as the Executive Director of Strategic Priorities and was tasked with moving the organization forward through focused effort on its high stakes goals as schools return to local control, managing its external affairs and communications work, and building organizational systems. As a native New Orleanian and with children of her own in Orleans Parish public schools, Avione is passionate about public education in New Orleans and creating the conditions to ensure all kids across our city receive an excellent education. Before joining OPSB, Avione served as the External Officer and Managing Director of Strategic Partnerships at Teach For America – Greater New Orleans and was responsible for cultivating, stewarding, and managing partnerships with local schools, state-wide certification partners, and Teach for America alumni-led organizations raising almost $1 million dollars annually. A proud graduate of Howard University, Avione got her start as a teacher in the School District of Philadelphia teaching middle school math. She earned her Master’s in elementary education from St. Joseph’s University, eventually returning to New Orleans to study law at Tulane and was thereafter an associate at Jones Walker Law Firm for five years practicing business litigation, corporate compliance, and education law.
